Blantyre-based rapper Nthondwa , popularly known as The Tumbuka Rapper, has set a new milestone in the Malawian music scene by becoming the first rapper in the country to drop bars in more than five languages on one track.
A proud graduate of Chancellor College (Chanco) and a 2021 Maso Awards nominee for Upcoming Artist of the Year, Nthondwa is celebrated for his sharp lyricism, deep cultural roots, and multilingual flow. Fluent in Chichewa, Tumbuka, Ngonde, Swahili, and English, Nthondwa continues to bridge cultures through hip-hop, showcasing Malawi’s linguistic diversity with style and authenticity.
He is best known for fan-favorite tracks like Nthombi, Nthowa, and Kufamba, the latter featuring the legendary Mr. Boniface Ndamera, recipient of the 2024 Maso Lifetime Achievement Award.
